When we step on stage during church, we really have to ask ourselves, "To whom are we calling attention? Are we actually trying to take God's place in worship?" Those questions alone might help us lead with more confidence and comfort up front.

Selecting just the right key for a song can be tricky, but we have to try. As worship leaders, our chief responsibility is to employ musical elements in order to engage the congregation, helping them connect with the Holy Spirit and worship God. If the congregation can't physically sing a song, it's a non-starter.

Worship leading is not about how musically-qualified we are. It's not about how well we can orchestrate, or how relevant we appear to today's worshipers. It's about our hearts. It always has been about our hearts.
