Lyrics
Verse 1:
The light shines out, but they don't want to see.
When they find out, they still don't want to be.

Chorus:
I say Your name, but I'm to blame, for
They don't want to hear.
I cry out loud, "Your Love abounds," and they go
But I know Your love is near.

Verse 2:
I speak the truth but all they hear are lies.
I see Heaven's gates but all they see are skies.

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
Your Son that died for me brings a tear
I want to shout, "Holy!" but no, not here.

(Chorus)

Description
Verse 1:
We spread the Light of Christ in our everyday lives, but it seems as though no one wants to see it. Even when they do see the Light, it frightens them to think of submitting to Jesus, so they don't even consider the option of coming to Christ.

Verse 2:
Even though the Christians speak nothing but the truth (the Truth), the receiving end only hears lies, because they simply don't believe. With God in my heart, my visions are set on the glorious Heavens, but still they can't see past the physical clouds that block their sight of Heaven.

Verse 3:
I know in my heart and in my soul that Jesus died so that I might be made clean and live in His Kingdom. I want so badly to shout it at the top of my lungs, but I am not allowed to do that here.

Chorus:
When I speak of Jesus, I can see people cringe just at hearing His name. I do my best to tell about the beauty of Jesus, but it seems as though nobody wants to listen at all. They leave without hearing the Truth, but I still know the Truth in my heart.

Overall:
I wrote this song to be sung at a school variety show in spring of 2001, my last year at high school, to sing the message of God's shunning in public schools. My school certainly was not too open to proclaiming any religion publicly, as I'm sure many other schools were the same way. All that we can do is shine the Light silently, and hope that people will soon learn what the children of God know.

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you."
