Lyrics
Verse 1:
Forty days wandering in the sand
Full of Life, Jesus takes a stand
Satan says, "Turn this rock to bread"
Still too strong, here's what Jesus said:

Chorus:
"Let go of me! You ought to know
You can't be one in control
'Cause God is the shield for my soul
So you can't have it! No, you can't have it."

Verse 2:
Jesus Christ was offered all the land
But nothing nice comes from Satan's hand
"All is Yours underneath the sky
If You'd worship me", and this was Christ's reply:

(Chorus)
(Instrumental)

Verse 3:
One last time, Satan tries again,
"As a sign, if You are Son of Man
Just jump down, God's Angels will come!"
"You can't win! With God, I'm way too strong!"

(Chorus (2x))

You can't have it, no you can't have it!

Description
Verse 1 (Luke 4:1-4)

Verse 2 (Luke 4:5-8)

Verse 3 (Luke 4:9-12)

Chorus (Luke 4:4,8,12)
To have the power to say "no" to the Devil requires one thing, and one thing only: The Power of God. Jesus called upon that power, and with that He was able to defeat Satan one more time. Jesus' soul was protected by God, and likewise, our soul has the very same Keeper.

Overall:
At the time I wrote this song, I was going through a pretty thick struggle with sin, and a more real battle with Satan. God had just helped me out of a life-long problem with lust, and I felt like because of that, the temptation won't ever be there again. Nothing could be further from the truth. Satan tried harder and harder to get back into my life through the door of lust; he even tried to get me while I dreamt. I was having a difficult time forcing Satan's temptations out of my life, so I looked to Jesus as the example in Luke 4. After He was hungry, thirsty, weak, tired, and burnt, Lucifer decided that now might be a good opportunity to get Him (while Jesus is physically weak). Jesus remained strong in spirit, however, and successfully overcame all of the Devil's temptations. However, Luke 4:13 tells us that though the Devil was beaten at that time, he would surely come again. When we are tempted by Satan, we have the same God, the same Spirit that Jesus called on for strength, and we can use that strength to say "no" to Satan. We must continue to persevere in this way, however, for Satan will be back to his old tricks soon enough.

Luke 4:1-13:
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'" The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'" The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test." When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
