Description
Verse 1:
I've certainly been in this situation before - I'm trying to reach out to my family but nothing seems to be working. Here's the thing: I'm relying on my own strength and my own persuasion to get to them and I'm not relying on what God has to offer. I just want to get to my family before it's too late.
Verse 2:
I know that the example that my family sees in me is one of many dimensions. Over my twenty-one years of living with them I've been through many different phases of character and they've seen me through all of them. I'm trying to live like a new creation, but that's so difficult to live that all the time. I just want to show that Jesus lives in my heart through everything.
Verse 3:
I know that I can't even hold a candle to the example of Christ, but that's why I surrendered to Him - now God sees me as Christ and I am redeemed by His blood. The greatest thing here is that everybody is offered the same opportunity! If anybody gives their life to Christ, they will be raised from the dead and invited into heaven!
Chorus:
I know that I have tried time and time again, but I want to try one more time - this time with added emphasis on eternal life. This gift is offered freely to all who want it, and all I want to do is make that offering more of a reality for those I care so much for.
Overall:
One of the most difficult things to think about as a Christian is the fact that not everybody (perhaps some of your friends, perhaps some of your family) is going to be spending eternity with you in heaven. I don't know about you, but I've had a blast with many many people here on earth, and I would love to spend eternity with them as well. I suppose all I can do is continue to persevere and grow in the hope that never fails, every day shining a little more of this light for those I care about to see.
Romans 5:3-5:
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
Revelation 3:20:
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."
Romans 3:22-24:
"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
