Description
Verse 1:
After uncountable efforts to subtly and obviously tell my (someone close to me) about what having a relationship with Jesus Christ is all about, I was destroyed. I began to lose hope, and I gave up the fight. I came to God, weeping and shaking, and I was then reminded of what witnesses like Paul and Jesus himself had to go through.
Verse 2:
I started to think about my personal strength, and if I really am cut out for this witnessing thing. I began to question my worth as a Christian, because my faith was slipping away due to the unbeknownst attack of my (someone close to me)'s refusal to believe.
Verse 3:
After humbling myself before God to ask for His power in my life, I am reminded of what I really can do. I am re-energized in faith, so that I can help my mother see the Truth. Now, you can substitute anyone you want to in the space of "my mother" depending on who it is you are currently focused on. The witness is for all people.
Verse 4:
I say hear that I will never give up again...that's hopeful. I know that if I remain in God (for a tree does not bear fruit on its own - John 15:4)
Bridge:
The only way I will ever get through this is to come back to God for His strength. The more I strive to do this on my own, the weaker and less influentially powerful I get.
Chorus:
It's unbelievable what God will reveal to you when you ask - when you really ask. I came to God with sincerity, and He told me everything I needed to know. It's funny, because this stuff I already "knew", but because I was so caught up in myself I didn't remember those things. The essential Truths of God are enough to help anyone persevere through any situation, and I will cling to them as a soldier would his armor in order to survive this battle for God's victory.
Overall:
This song carries on from "The Witness, Part One (Shine in You)", telling the story of my attempts at being the light in my family and showing them the way to true joy. I have been spiritually beat up by this whole experience, but it is far from over - God continues to give me the strength and humility to carry on in His fight. I will continue to fight God's fight in my family, and do what God has called all of his followers to do. Everyone has that one person in their lives that you would love to show the Truth found in Christ, but they won't hear of it. Please use this song and what God has revealed through it to continue the fight and to never ever lose hope.
