Lyrics
I behold the One who gave it all for me
By God's only Son who made us all be clean

Although it seemed to take a life
By what You've done I will survive
The death of one has granted all life

I have heard Your last night in the world You cried
Sweating blood and sorrow - for the world you died

You did not want to drink the cup
But by God's will you gave Yours up
By trusting Him, You have become life

A perfect man laid on the cross
His sacrifice has paid the cost
The gift of God forevermore: life.

Description
This song was another opportunity for God to sit me down and teach me a little something about the importance of Jesus' death and how it still saves lives to this very day.

Verse 1: To "behold" something is very special...it means that you perceive in a visual sense. To behold this man Jesus in your daily life is to make Him (and what He did) real for us. We are all made clean in what He has done, all we have to do is accept it.

Refrain 1: Romans 5:8 ("But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.")

Verse 2: Luke 22:44 ("And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.")

Refrain 2: Matthew 26:39 ("Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.")

Refrain 3: Romans 6:23 ("For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.")
