Verse 1:
A hypothetical boy named "Billy" was just kinda hanging outside his house one day and didn't have anything to do. He decided that he would just go inside, and perhaps something will come to him on his way, and little did he know...
Verse 2:
...as he walked inside, he saw his brother's Bible on the kitchen counter. Billy decided why not kill some time with some random reading, and he ended up reading all day. That's quite a way to spend a day!
Verse 3:
Billy is simply astonished at what Jesus has done in the lives of those who believe in Him. Stories of miracles with Lazarus, the young girl, the leper, and so forth opened Billy's eyes to God's Truth in Jesus. Then, for the first time in his life, he knelt down and prayed to the Man behind all of the miracles.
Verse 4:
At the end of the day, Billy was full of the peace that only the Holy Spirit could bring. He lay down to sleep, for the first time as a believer, for he was a changed boy.
Chorus:
Today is, as every day should be, a day devoted to God and God only. What a privilege and an honor to spend time with the Creator of the Universe!
Overall:
We can all learn a little bit from Billy, because his faith was so pure and strong that first Saturday night. As Christians of any age, we need to be astonished every day by the miracles that God has done and still does in our lives today, just as Billy was. This is the very spice that keeps us excited about Christ, and if we aren't excited to share the Good News, then we are going against God's great commission.
Matthew 8:1-17 (Healing the sick)
When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean." And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, "See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people." As he entered Caper'na-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress." And he said to him, "I will come and heal him." But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth." And to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; be it done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed at that very moment. And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever; he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him. That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."
Mark 5: 30-42 (Raising Little Girl From the Dead)
And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone forth from him, immediately turned about in the crowd, and said, "Who touched my garments?" And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, 'Who touched me?'" And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had been done to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease." While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler's house some who said, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?" But ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not fear, only believe." And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. When they came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, he saw a tumult, and people weeping and wailing loudly. And when he had entered, he said to them, "Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside, and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. Taking her by the hand he said to her, "Tal'itha cu'mi"; which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise." And immediately the girl got up and walked (she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement.
John 11: 43, 44 (Raising Lazarus From the Dead)
When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Laz'arus, come out." The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with bandages, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
Matthew 28:19-20 (The Great Commission)
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
