Verse 1:
I realize that I have sinned, as it is humanly impossible not to. Jesus was the only human to never have sinned, and He was God. Once again, I have fallen short.
Verse 2:
The clouds come over me, and their darkness makes my life seem so dark. However, what the darkness contains is the very water that purifies my soul. With the darkness of sin comes the purity of God's cleansing. Thank God for the rain!
Chorus:
Because I have fallen short of the glory of God, the rain makes way to take away my sin. I might be incredibly upset with myself for corroding my soul with sin, but God still washes it away.
Overall:
One day, it was raining outside and I was thinking about how much of a drag it was. I soon realized how wonderful the rain really is: the rain cleanses, it cleans, it makes things new. Just as God's earth is cleansed by His rain, my soul is cleansed by His rain (reign). I am cleansed from my sin, because I ask for God's rain to pour all over me. Now I know how awesome rain really is!
Romans 3:22-23:
"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 6:23:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
