Verse 1:
I was in a state of extreme confusion. I suppose I was trying to figure out who I am, and who I would like to be.
Verse 2:
While I was trying to get 'better', I ended up falling and getting worse. Jealousy and coveting does not get you anywhere at all. Regardless, I still try to be the all-star, the "number one stella" if I may.
Verse 3:
Thank God I eventually realize that my life is so blessed and awesome! I am given so much greatness to fill the chapters of my life, so there is nothing more that I could possibly ask for. Indeed, I am glad I'm me.
Refrain:
Still wishing I was better than I am, I think about the people that are generally thought of as desired. Brad Pitt is among them, and wouldn't that just be grand if I was him?
Chorus:
There are so many people out there that have 'better' qualities than I do, and sometimes I wish I had those qualities. However, by the end of the song I realize that everyone is given gifts and capabilities, and I am perfectly happy with what God has given me. He has given each of His children so much, so it is absolutely silly to even ponder a desire of something that isn't you. God gives us gifts, so I am so happy to receive them.
Overall:
The tenth commandment given from God tells us not to desire things that are not our own. It is often hard to live up to God's commandments, and we all fall short, but ultimately God finds a way to get us into his realm of obedience.
Exodus 20:17
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's."
1 Peter 4:10
"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
