Verse 1:
Here, I'm asking God to meet me where I am. I'm trying to do what I can to receive His direction, but haven't really been there for Him. The least that God can use of me before anything productive can occur is all of me, and I'm not giving that.
Verse 2:
I'm going to follow God to see where He is acting, and perhaps I can be a part of that. Once I know where and when and how God acts, I can make myself available for Him to use me in the same ways.
Verse 3:
To say that all of this power to make ourselves available is completely up to us would be inaccurate. You see, God enters into us and that is how we could ever have the strength to keep from falling. Trust me, Ive recently experienced life where I didnt want to receive any strength from God, and I was nothing but weak until I let Him back into my heart.
Pre-Chorus:
All that I am is an offering, and that is all that God needs of me.
Chorus:
I wish I could say that "here I am" has been one of the first things I would bring to God lately. Saying that to God doesn't tell Him where you are, because He already knows that. Saying that does tell God, however, that you are officially open to His direction. Unfortunately, there are more times when its far more appropriate for me to say, "Here I'm not". God can only use me when I open my heart to His presence, and when I do that He can use all of me for His glory.
Overall:
God wants nothing less that all that we've got. Sounds pretty demanding, right? Here's the catch - before God asks, He provides. It's not out of my pocket that I grab the change, it's His. Its not my power that is used to grow God's kingdom, it's His. Now, how is it that God can even attempt to give us Himself? It's by His Spirit alone that He can enter into lives and empower new creations from the inside out. If we were cars, He's the gasoline. If we were fruit, He's the seed. If we were microprocessors, He's the transistors. Sounds like a good deal, eh? Let God work through you and you'll do great things. Try to do it on your own, and you'll simply drown.
